[0002]
[0003]
[0004] Field of the Invention
[0005] The present invention refers to a dental device for the treatment of dental alveoli, especially, to achieve a good blood clot after the extraction of dental pieces in alveoli with little or no bleeding, thus avoiding infection problems and poor bone regeneration.
[0006]
[0007] The present invention also relates to a process for the manufacture of said dental device and to a kit associated with it.
[0008]
[0009] The present invention is applicable in the field of dentistry in general and, especially, in subsequent treatments as a consequence of surgical acts of extraction.
[0010]
[0011] Background of the Invention
[0012] Dental alveolitis consists of a quite painful infection that occurs in the dental alveolus (cavity of the alveolar bone where the teeth are inserted), and that is associated with a dental extraction with no or non-existent clot, for example, prior to placement of a dental implant.
[0013]
[0014] Thus, as mentioned above, these types of infections are usually caused by the loss of the blood clot that should remain in the socket after tooth extraction, which in turn causes the entry of saliva into the socket and, therefore, the entry of microbes.
[0015]
[0016] Currently, treatments are known whose purpose is precisely to ensure the presence of a blood clot in the alveolus. One of them is to scrape the alveolar bone to produce more blood, so that it is concentrated in the alveolus. Another one is to make small holes in the honeycomb walls with a burr, for the same purpose.
[0017] Another known technique is Plasma Rich in Growth Factors (PRGF). It consists of a more complex treatment in which blood must be drawn from the patient's vein, and the entire blood centrifugation process must be carried out in order to obtain growth factors in order to introduce them into the socket to be treated.
[0018]
[0019] Generally, these types of treatments have an invasive nature that is quite uncomfortable for the patient, and / or have a certain complexity that makes their application difficult for medical professionals.
[0020]
[0021] The present invention solves the problems previously exposed by means of a dental device for the treatment of dental alveoli with little or no bleeding, which allows obtaining a good blood clot in the alveolus in a simple, fast and comfortable way for the patient, thus avoiding problems infection and poor bone regeneration (very important for the subsequent placement of dental implants).
[0022]
[0023] The present invention also relates to a process for the manufacture of said dental device and a kit associated with it, which allow the assembly and use of said device by professionals in the sector in a quick and simple way.
[0024]
[0025] Description of the Invention
[0026] The dental device for treating dental alveoli of the present invention, especially those with little or no post-extraction bleeding, comprises: a suction element; and
[0027] - a dental impression of a patient defining at least one sealing surface configured to seal one or more sockets of said patient.
[0028]
[0029] Said sealing surface has a suction hole connected to the suction element to create a vacuum in the socket or the sockets. The vacuum, or suction, created in the alveolus, that is, in the cavity in which the extracted dental piece (tooth or grinding wheel) was housed, allows to achieve a good blood clot after extraction in the alveolus in a simple way, fast and comfortable for the patient, thus avoiding infection problems and poor bone regeneration.
[0030]
[0031] The suction element can take different shapes and / or manual configurations and / or automatic that allow creating a vacuum in the area where the extraction of one or more dental pieces from the patient has taken place. According to a preferred embodiment, the suction element is a syringe for injectables (for example, 5 ml.), In order to offer greater simplicity of the device and facilitate its use by its users.
[0032]
[0033] The shape and / or configuration of the dental impression depends on the number of alveoli to be treated once the dental pieces have been extracted, as well as the rest of the dental pieces that remain in the patient's jaw, or in a part of it, once performed said intervention.
[0034]
[0035] The alveoli to be treated, whether one or more, define an extraction area that, once the dental impression is placed on it, is sealed by the sealing surface. Thereby avoiding the entry of air around the socket and, therefore, guaranteeing that a certain vacuum is produced around it when the suction element is actuated.
[0036]
[0037] In those cases in which the patient keeps a dental piece close to the area where the extraction has taken place, the dental impression preferably comprises at least one dental cavity that defines a holding surface configured to fit on one or more of the patient's dental pieces. . Said holding surface favors the holding of the dental impression during the suction process. In edentulous patients, or in areas to be treated without teeth, these dental cavities are not necessary for the correct operation of the device.
[0038]
[0039] Regardless of the presence or absence of dental cavities, preferably, the dental impression comprises a perimeter skirt that defines a support surface configured to be supported on the patient's gums, favoring the adequate hold of the dental impression during the suction process.
[0040]
[0041] The dental impression is made of silicone or any other material with similar characteristics that allows it to be molded, as well as the proper sealing of the area to be treated. Preferably, the dental impression is made of heavy silicone since it offers a better seal.
[0042] Preferably, the device comprises a flexible tube that connects the suction element with the suction port. For example, a clear tube of the type used for drop-by-drop serum administration. However, in other embodiments, it is possible to dispense with said flexible tube by directly connecting the suction element to the suction port.
[0043]
[0044] Preferably, the flexible tube comprises an approximate external diameter of 3 to 4 mm and an approximate internal diameter of 2 to 3 mm.
[0045]
[0046] Preferably, the flexible tube has a length of approximately 6 to 10 cm, suitable to facilitate its use without disturbing the patient.
[0047]
[0048] The previous dimensions may be greater or less in other cases of execution, depending on the flexible tube to be used.
[0049]
[0050] Preferably, the flexible tube is millimeter, or has other measurement marks, to determine the amount of blood drawn. This can also be used to carry out histological studies, obtaining from a certain amount of blood the number of bone cells (osteocytes) found in the alveolus.
[0051]
[0052] The procedure for the manufacture of a dental device for the treatment of dental alveoli of the present invention comprises the following steps:
[0053] a) having a dental impression showing a filling protuberance of a patient's socket;
[0054] b) cutting said filling boss until forming a sealing surface, preferably flat, configured to seal said socket;
[0055] c) make a suction hole in said sealing surface; and
[0056] d) connecting a suction element to said suction hole.
[0057]
[0058] Preferably, step a) previously comprises the following steps:
[0059] a0.1) filling a tray using a dental impression filling material; a0.2) take a dental impression of the area to be treated, or extraction area, of a patient, centering the filling material on one or more alveoli of said patient, that is, trying to keep it as centered as possible on the area of tooth extraction; and
[0060] a0.3) remove the dental impression from the tray.
[0061]
[0062] When the dental impression is separated from the tray, the filling material has taken the shape of the extraction area, whether or not there are dental pieces in it. In the area where there is an interest in the formation of a blood clot, a filling protrusion can be seen that penetrates the alveolus.
[0063]
[0064] Preferably, step b) comprises the following steps:
[0065] b1) trimming the fill bump to the bottom of it; and
[0066] b2) keep the marginal edges.
[0067]
[0068] A scalpel or any other appropriate cutting instrument can be used to trim the filling bump. The cut reaches the base of it, leaving a few millimeters corresponding to the thickness of the gum, for example, about 3 mm.
[0069]
[0070] The filling material that remains between the papillae and any ridges that make it difficult to reposition the dental impression in the patient's mouth is also trimmed. However, the marginal edges of the dental impression are maintained, since they favor its support, thus achieving a good seal of the area to be treated.
[0071]
[0072] Preferably, step c) comprises the following steps:
[0073] c1) perforate the dental impression from side to side, centering the perforation with respect to the sealing surface.
[0074]
[0075] To drill the dental impression, you can use a drill (for example, a 4 mm calibrated drill) or any other appropriate drilling instrument.
[0076]
[0077] Preferably, step d) comprises the following steps:
[0078] d1) connecting a flexible tube at a first end thereof to the suction element and at a second end thereof to the suction port.
[0079]
[0080] The second end of the flexible tube is connected to the suction hole on the outside of the dental impression, that is, on the side opposite to that of the sealing surface.
[0081] Preferably, the process of the present invention additionally comprises the following step:
[0082] e) smearing a dental impression support surface, peripheral to the sealing surface, with petroleum jelly, to achieve a good peripheral seal.
[0083]
[0084] Once the dental device has been manufactured according to the procedure described above, it is used in the following way. First, the dental impression is placed in the patient's mouth, and more specifically, on the area to be treated of the same in which the alveolus or alveoli are located. Once it has been verified that the dental impression is in place, it is proceeded to squeeze it well with one hand, while with the other it is aspirated with the syringe until blood enters the flexible tube. Then, a wait of about 3 minutes is made (clotting time), and after that time, the flexible tube is cut with scissors and the dental impression is removed.
[0085]
[0086] The kit for the manufacture of a dental device for the treatment of dental alveoli of the present invention comprises:
[0087] - at least one tray for dental impressions; and
[0088] - at least one suction element, preferably a syringe.
[0089]
[0090] Preferably, the kit of the present invention further comprises:
[0091] - at least one flexible tube.
[0092]
[0093] Preferably, the kit of the present invention further comprises:
[0094] - a filling material for dental impressions.
[0095]
[0096] Preferably, the kit of the present invention further comprises:
[0097] - at least one drill bit to drill.
[0098]
[0099] A spare kit consisting of a suction element, preferably a syringe, and a flexible tube, allows the disposable elements of the kit of the present invention to be replaced, keeping the rest for reuse (tray, filling material, strawberry).
[0100] In all the above cases, both the kit for the manufacture of a dental device and the replacement kit are supplied duly sterilized for their proper use.

[0116]
[0117] Detailed description of the invention
[0118] As seen in Figures 1 and 2, the dental device (1) for the treatment of dental alveoli (A) of the present invention comprises:
[0119] - a suction element (2) formed by a syringe; and
[0120] - a dental impression (3) of a patient defining at least one sealing surface (SA) configured to seal an alveolus (A) of said patient;
[0121] where said sealing surface (S a ) has a suction hole (31) connected to the suction element (2) to create a vacuum in the socket (A).
[0122] The dental impression (3) comprises at least one dental cavity (32) defining a holding surface (S d ) configured to fit on one or more dental pieces (D) of the patient, Figure 3.
[0123]
[0124] The dental impression (3) comprises a perimeter skirt (33) that defines a support surface (S e ) configured to be supported on the gum (E) of the patient, favoring the adequate holding of the dental impression (3) during the process of suction.
[0125]
[0126] The dental impression (3) is made of silicone or any other material with similar characteristics that allows it to be molded, as well as the proper sealing of the area to be treated, for example, heavy silicone.
[0127]
[0128] The device (1) comprises a flexible tube (4) that connects the suction element (2) with the suction hole (31). The flexible tube (4) comprises an external diameter of 3 to 4 mm and an internal diameter of 2 to 3 mm, as well as an approximate length of 6 to 10 cm, for example. The flexible tube (4) is millimeter, or has other measurement marks, to determine the amount of blood sucked.
[0129]
[0130] Figure 3 represents an example of application of the dental device (1) arranged on the area to be treated by the patient. As can be seen, the sealing surface (S a ) has a suction hole (31) connected to the suction element (2) through the flexible tube (4) to create a vacuum in the socket (A). The holding surface (S D ) fits on various dental pieces (D) of the patient, while the supporting surface (S E ) is supported on the gingiva (E) of the patient, favoring the adequate holding of the dental impression ( 3) during the suction process.
[0131]
[0132] As can be seen in Figures 4a-4e, the procedure for manufacturing the dental device (1) of the present invention comprises the following steps: a) having a dental impression (3) that has a filling protrusion (34) of an alveolus (A) of a patient, Figure 4b;
[0133] b) cutting said filling protuberance (34) until forming a sealing surface (S a ), preferably flat, configured to seal said socket (A), Figure 4c; c) making a suction hole (31) in said sealing surface (S a ), Figure 4d; and d) connecting a suction element (2) to said suction hole (31), Figure 4e.
[0134]
[0135] Step a) previously comprises the following steps:
[0136] a0.1) filling a tray (101), in this case provided with perforations (102), using a filling material (M) for dental impressions (3), for example, heavy silicone, Figure 4a;
[0137] a0.2) take a dental impression (3) of the area to be treated, or extraction area, of a patient, centering the filling material (M) on an alveolus (A) of said patient, that is, ensuring that it remains as centered as possible of the extraction area; and
[0138] a0.3) extract the dental impression (3) from the tray (101), Figure 4b.
[0139]
[0140] When the dental impression of the tray (3) is separated from the tray (101), the filling material (M) has taken the form of the extraction zone, Figure 4b. In the area in which it is interested in the formation of a clot, a filling protuberance (34) can be seen that penetrates into the alveolus (A).
[0141]
[0142] As shown in Figures 4b and 4c, step b) comprises the following steps: b1) trimming the filler boss (34) to the base (35) thereof; and b2) maintaining the marginal edges (36).
[0143]
[0144] A scalpel or any other suitable cutting instrument can be used to trim the filling boss (34). The cut reaches the base (35) of the same, leaving a few millimeters corresponding to the thickness of the gum (E), for example, about 3 mm.
[0145]
[0146] The filling material (M) that remains between the papillae and any rim that makes it difficult to reposition the dental impression (3) in the patient's mouth, is also trimmed. However, the marginal edges (36) of the dental impression (3) are maintained, since they favor the support of the same, thus achieving a good seal of the area to be treated.
[0147]
[0148] As shown in Figure 4d, step c) comprises the following steps: c1) drilling the dental impression (3) from side to side, centering the drilling on
[0149]
[0150]
[0151] to the sealing surface (S a ).
[0152]
[0153] To drill the dental impression (3) you can use a drill (for example, a 4 mm calibrated drill) or any other appropriate drilling instrument, whose diameter coincides with that of the end of the suction element (2) or with the diameter external flexible hose (4) to use.
[0154]
[0155] As shown in Figure 4e, step d) comprises the following steps: d1) connecting a flexible tube (4) through a first end (41) thereof to the suction element (2) and through a second end (42) from it to the suction hole (31).
[0156]
[0157] The second end (42) of the flexible tube (4) is connected to the suction hole (2) on the outside of the dental impression (3), that is, on the side opposite to that of the sealing surface (S a ) .
[0158]
[0159] The method of the present invention additionally comprises the following step: e) smearing a support surface (S e ) of the dental impression (3), peripheral to the sealing surface (S a ), with petroleum jelly, to achieve a good seal peripheral.
[0160]
[0161] Figure 5 shows a schematic view of a kit (10) for manufacturing the dental device (1), according to a first embodiment, which comprises: - two trays (101) for dental impressions (3), right and left, partially disposable plastic or other material, with holes such as perforations (102); and - at least one suction element (2) formed by a syringe for injectables, preferably four;
[0162] - at least one flexible tube (4), preferably four;
[0163] - at least one drill (5) to drill.
[0164]
[0165] FIG. 6 represents a schematic view of a kit (10) for manufacturing the dental device (1), according to a second embodiment, which additionally comprises a filling material (M) for dental impressions (3), for example, heavy silicone.
